What is a Notary?
San Antonio Public Notaries are Public Officers qualified, bonded & commissioned by the Secretary of the State in order to perform notarial acts with the same authority as the county clerk to take proofs & acknowledgments of written instruments; protest instruments permitted by law to be protested; administer oaths; take depositions; and certify copies of documents not recordable in the public records. In addition to being bonded, Alamo Notary & Signing Agents is also insured for your protection.
What is a Certified Signing Agent?
A Signing Agent is used for signing and notarization of Mortgage Loan documents including Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) loans. A Signing Agent should be experienced with all Banks, Lending Institutions & Title Companies & should insure the Safeguarding Consumer Privacy as required by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and FTC Safeguards Rule as well as with regard to representing the Lender and/or Title Companies.
What should I know before meeting with a Notary?
All documents must be signed in the presence of the Notary and/or Signing Agent. The date of the document and the notarization don't have to have the same dates. The Notarization date will be the actual date the person appears in front of the Notary and/or Signing Agent. It is the Law that each signor must present a valid & current government issued photo ID Card. Examples are, a State Identification Card, Driver's License or a current U.S. Passport, Alien Registration Card or Military ID Card.
